KARATE - SHITO-RYU

Shito-ryu Karate is the most popular and national Sports of Japan. Karate means "fight with empty hands". It was founded by Kenwa Mabuni who studied under Yasutsune Itosu. Shito-ryu karate is characterized by the many kata (forms) which it has. The Shito style uses many short, low stances and the stance known as "shiko-dachi" is common throughout many of the kata.

"shiko-dachi" is a position when we start fight or when we start kicking. Traditional Karate weapons are : nanchaku , sai & tonfa.

Karate-shitoryu includes the following skills:

1. Defense
2. Blocks
3. Kicks
4. Punches
5. Katas
6. Basic self defense
7. Kumite
8. Grading

Grading plays very important role in Karate-shitoryu, because with out grading we can't go from 1 belt to another.
